Hit action RPG Last Epoch is coming to PlayStation 5 alongside its newly announced first expansion, with both set to hit the console on the same date. The popular dungeon-crawling title from Eleventh Hour Games had previously only been available to players on PC, but PS5 owners will get the chance to join in on the fun just as Last Epoch‘s first expansion, Orobyss, makes its debut.
Last Epoch was originally funded through a Kickstarter campaign that raised more than $250,000, and it has achieved a respectable amount of success since its initial launch in February 2024. With the kickoff of Last Epoch‘s Season 3 content in August, which included the reworking of classes and the addition of the Primalist to the class roster, the game hit a peak of more than 80,000 concurrent players on Steam, which still doesn’t come near its all-time high of nearly 265,000.
Last Epoch and Orobyss Expansion Are Coming to PS5
The announcement of the game’s arrival on PS5 and the cross-platform development of Orobyss were both made at the September 24 State of Play live stream presentation. No release date has been revealed, but a presenter during the showcase has confirmed that the game is currently in development for PlayStation 5, and it sounds like the expansion won’t be released on either platform until the PS5 version of Last Epoch is ready to go. The dungeon crawler features a time-travel-based story that puts players under seemingly insurmountable odds as they square off against gods, and the upcoming expansion should provide a maddening adventure as they come face to face with a newly revealed god who is closely tied to the Void.
Not much has been revealed about the expansion so far, but those who follow the lore of Last Epoch may have made a mental connection based on the title alone, as Orobyss is a prominent god character in the overarching story. Last Epoch’s campaign takes around 33 to 35 hours to work through, including all side quests, so the additional threat provided by this additional god should provide players with a healthy additional amount of story-based content.
For those who haven’t yet had a chance to dive into the base game, it provides a lot of customization options in addition to its exciting dungeon-crawler gameplay. This is aided by Last Epoch’s 15 different mastery classes, branching skill trees with more than 130 options, and deep loot system that encourages players to try out many different builds using a combination of skills and gear.
